Grand Ganga Aarti Celebrated at Teetwal, Kashmir on the Banks of Kishenganga River

Teetwal , April 01 – :- On the auspicious occasion of Navratras, the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) organized a grand Ganga Aarti on the banks of the Kishenganga River at the Line of Control (LoC) in Teetwal, Kashmir. The event saw hundreds of devotees gathered to celebrate the spiritual heritage of the region, marking a momentous occasion in the area’s cultural and religious revival.
Earlier in the day, a group of pilgrims from South India conducted a hawan at the historic Sharda Temple, located near the LoC, further emphasizing the rejuvenation of the ancient spiritual site. The temple and its surrounding areas have long been significant to the region’s religious history, and this event highlighted the ongoing efforts to revive and preserve it.
The Ganga Aarti took place at a specially constructed ghat by the District Administration, named after Swami Nand Lal Ji of Srinagar. The ghat has been open to yatris since last year, and is part of the broader effort to boost religious tourism and revitalize the spiritual landscape of the region. Swami Nand Lal Ji was the last saint to manage and run the Sharda Peeth, now located in District Neelum, PoK.
Ravinder Pandita, Chairman of the Save Sharda Committee, participated in the Aarti and took a holy dip during the ceremony. He urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to enhance the ghat’s infrastructure, calling for the construction of changing rooms, safety chains, and proper lighting. Pandita emphasized that these improvements would not only aid religious tourism but also promote border tourism, which could have a significant positive impact on the region’s development.
The successful event represents a significant step in reviving the spiritual legacy of Sharda Peeth, strengthening inter-regional religious ties, and contributing to the growing tourism potential along the LoC in Kashmir. The Save Sharda Committee’s efforts are helping to bring attention to the region’s rich cultural history and its importance as a center for spiritual pilgrimage.(CNS)
