Night Temp Drops At Most Places After Light Rainfall In J&K

 

Srinagar, June 1: Amid fresh rains in the last 24 hours, night temperature recorded a drop at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Qazigund received 3.6 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today and recorded a low of 11.0ยฐC, same as on the previous night. The temperature was 0.1ยฐC below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he told GNS.

Pahalgam, which had 9.8mm of rainfall during the time, recorded a minimum of 6.6ยฐC against 7.8ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.5ยฐC above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir during this time of the season, he said.

Kokernag had 1.2mm of rainfall and recorded a low of 9.9ยฐC against 10.9ยฐC on the previous night. It was 1.2ยฐC below normal during this time of the season for the place in south Kashmir, the official said.

Gulmarg received 7.4 mm of rain during the time and recorded a low of 4.0ยฐC against 5.6ยฐC on the previous night, the official said. While 7.6ยฐC is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 3.6ยฐC below normal for the place in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir also had 0.5 mm of rain during the time and recorded a low of 12.5ยฐC against 12.3ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 1.5ยฐC above normal for the district, the official told Global News Service.

Srinagar recorded a low of 13.8ยฐC against 13.7ยฐC on the previous night, he said. The temperature, he said, was above normal by 1.3ยฐC during this time of the year for the summer capital.

Jammu recorded a low of 28.5ยฐC against 23.5ยฐC on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 3.0ยฐC below normal for J&Kโ€™s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 12.6ยฐC, Batote recorded a low of 14.5ยฐC while Bhadarwah recorded a minimum of 12.0ยฐC, the official said.

The MeT department has forecast isolated to scattered light rain and thunderstorm in next 24 hours in J&K. (GNS)
