*Government Lists Horticulture Schemes Benefiting Farmers*

Jammu, Nov 1, The Jammu and Kashmir Government has provided detailed information in the Assembly on the horticulture development schemes implemented in Reasi district, including financial assistance, insurance coverage, and compensation for crop loss due to adverse weather conditions.

According to the written reply of the Agriculture Production and Horticulture Department, farmers in Reasi have benefited under centrally sponsored schemes such as the MIDH (Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture), PMDP, and Crop Insurance Programmes.

The government stated that assessment of hailstorm and weather-related damages is carried out jointly by the Revenue and Horticulture Departments, and compensation is released as per norms. The department added that subsidy-based interventions on fruit nurseries, fencing, irrigation and plantation material are continuing to assist orchardists in the region.

Officials also said that new horticulture blocks have been identified for modern orchard development and that awareness camps are being organized to train growers in scientific cultivation practices.
