Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals; Police seizes 04 vehicles, arrests 04 persons in Awantipora
April 02: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 04 vehicles and arrested 04 persons in Awantipora.
A police party led by SHO PS Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS arrested four persons and seized four vehicles (tippers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Hatiwara and Padgampora areas of Awantipora. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
