Action against illegal mining: J&K Police in Shopian seize 04 tractors, 01 dumper; 02 FIRs registered

SHOPIAN, April 02: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining, Police Station Zainapora & Police Post Keegam have seized four Tractors and one dumper involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in the Keegam and drgad Chitragam areas of the district.
During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Post Keegam intercepted two tractors engaged in illegal mining activities without mandatory permissions. In this regard FIR No. 44/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.
In a similar action, on specific information police party from Police Station Zainapora intercepted two tractors and one Dumper involved in illegal extraction of minerals without royalty documents. In this regard FIR No. 40/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation has been initiated.
Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to safeguarding the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public is urged to cooperate with the police by reporting any such unlawful practices. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and stringent action will be taken against violators.
