Police Seize Six Tippers and JCB in Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Awantipora

Pampore, May 2, :- In a continued effort to combat illegal mining activities, Awantipora Police have seized six tippers and one JCB machine involved in the unauthorized excavation and transportation of minerals in the Pampore area.
The operation was carried out by a team from Police Station Pampore, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Naieem Rashid. The seized vehicles include six tippers with registration numbers JK04B-0511, JK16-4199, JK13A-5299, JK01P-3017, JK01L-9127, JK13B-7470, and one JCB machine without a registration number.
The seizure was part of the police department’s intensified drive to curb illegal mineral extraction, particularly during night hours when such activities are often carried out covertly. FIR Nos. 47/2025 and 48/2025 have been registered under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Pampore, and further investigation is currently underway.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the environment and government resources from illegal mining practices that pose serious risks to public health, ecological balance, and state revenue.
