Ongoing Crackdown on Narcotic Peddling in Anantnag

Anantnag: August 03 : Anantnag Police, continuing its relentless fight against the drug menace, has arrested a drug peddler and recovered poppy straw.

Police Station Aishmuqam received reliable information that Abdul Hafiz Masoodi, son of Mohd Toyoub and resident of Iram Colony, Aishmuqam, was involved in drug peddling and had hoarded narcotic substances at his residence. Consequently, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Aishmuqam, and an investigation was initiated.

A search team comprising Aishmuqam Police and the concerned Executive Magistrate was formed to carry out the search of the house. During the search, approximately 5.3 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the residence of Abdul Hafiz Masoodi, who was subsequently arrested, and the contraband was seized. Further investigation in this case is ongoing.

Anantnag Police is making every effort to raise awareness, especially among the youth, to eradicate the drug menace. We urge residents to come forward and share any information about drug peddling. Your identity will be kept confidential.
