
Srinagar: Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo on Saturday said that efforts are on forefront to make gurez all-weather tourist destination.
Talking to reporters on sidelines of culmination cermony of gurez festival, Itoo said that the challenges related to winter in gurez will be worked on in a phased manner and as soon as the challenges reduce, winter tourism here will be improved in the best possible way.
Itoo said that issue related to entry of foreign tourists in gurez valley has already been brought into notice of higher authorities. “The way government’s top priority is to boost tourism, I am sure that in coming days something positive will be heard in this regard”, he added.
Notably the gold awardee best offbeat destination, gurez valley remains closed during six winter months every year due to accumulation of several feet of snow.People have been demanded for a tunnel at Razdan pass to make Bandipora-Gurez road an all weather road.
