Supreme Court Rejects Plea to Designate ‘Ram Sethu’ as a National Monument

NEW DELHI, October 3: The Supreme Court of India, on Tuesday, dismissed a petition requesting the declaration of ‘Ram Sethu’ as a national monument.

‘Ram Sethu,’ also known as Adam’s Bridge, is a chain of limestone shoals located between Pamban Island, situated off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, and Mannar Island, positioned off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.

The petition, which also sought a directive for the construction of a protective wall at the site, was brought before a bench comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia.

The plea had been submitted by the Hindu Personal Law Board, represented by its president, Ashok Pandey. (Agencies)
