Srinagar, January 4: Minister Javed Ahmad Dar inaugurated a significant workshop on the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in Srinagar, emphasizing its role in transforming rural housing and promoting inclusivity. The workshop brought together key stakeholders to discuss the scheme’s progress and future roadmap in Jammu & Kashmir.

During his address, the minister highlighted that over 3.35 lakh houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-G in the Union Territory since 2016. The initiative, he said, has played a pivotal role in providing dignified housing to rural families, uplifting their living standards, and ensuring inclusivity by prioritizing marginalized communities.

“PMAY-G has become a cornerstone of rural development in J&K. The construction of these houses is not just about shelter but about empowering lives and fostering economic growth in rural areas,” he stated.

The minister lauded the efforts of implementing agencies and urged them to focus on timely delivery, quality standards, and transparency. He also stressed the importance of community participation in the program to ensure its success and sustainability.

The workshop featured presentations on best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches to accelerating the scheme’s implementation. Beneficiaries shared stories of how PMAY-G has positively impacted their lives, transitioning them from kutcha houses to secure, modern homes.

With a robust implementation framework, PMAY-G continues to change lives across Jammu & Kashmir, contributing to the government’s vision of “Housing for All” by 2024.
