Mecca,Saudi Arabia–June 4, 2025: Today, millions of Muslims from around the world commenced the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj 2025, traveling from Mecca to the tent city of Mina in a profound display of faith, unity, and devotion. This annual Islamic pilgrimage, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, draws worshippers to the holiest sites in Islam for a series of rituals that culminate in spiritual renewal and solidarity.
Clad in simple white garments symbolizing equality, pilgrims began their journey with the intention of performing Hajj, a religious obligation for Muslims who are physically and financially able. The movement from Mecca to Mina marks the start of the five-day pilgrimage, which includes standing in prayer at the plains of Arafat, throwing pebbles in a symbolic stoning of the devil, and circling the Kaaba in the Grand Mosque.
Authorities in Saudi Arabia have implemented extensive measures to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims, including advanced crowd management systems and health protocols. The event, a cornerstone of Islamic tradition, underscores the global Muslim community’s shared commitment to faith and submission to God.
