Earthquake of 5.9 Magnitude Hits J&K: Director MeT

Srinagar, Jan 5: A moderate earthquake was felt across the parts of Jammu and Kashmir this evening.

Director Met, Sonum Lotus, according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) informed that tremors, measuring 5.9 on Richter scale, were felt for several seconds at around 7:55:51 PM.

He said the epicentre of the earthquake was Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan, (70.66°E 36.39 °N) and depth was 200 Km.

There were no immediate reports of any injury or damage to any property received from J&K so far. (KDC)
