LG Manoj Sinha Addresses The Gathering On “Our Land Our Future”

Srinagar, June 5, 2024 — The Nageen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) successfully commemorated World Environment Day with an impactful event held at Sazgaripora, Srinagar, under its Mission Ehsaas Phase-IV initiative. This initiative focuses on the rejuvenation of the twin urban lakes, Gilsar and Khushalsar. The event was graced by the Honourable Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha as the Chief Guest.

Chairman of NLCO, Manzoor Wangnoo, extended his sincere thanks to the Honourable LG for his support and for acknowledging the NLCO’s efforts in his address. Shri Wangnoo also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Divisional Administration, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), J&K Lake & Conservation Management Authority (JKLC&MA), and all other stakeholders for their invaluable support in making the initiative a success.

During the event, Chairman Manzoor Wangnoo presented a memento to Honourable LG Shri Manoj Sinha. Additionally, mementos were presented to Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Secretary HU&DD, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, and Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, District Commissioner Srinagar, in recognition of their support.

“We are deeply thankful to the Honourable LG Shri Manoj Sinha for his kind words and encouragement,” said Manzoor Wangnoo. “Our mission to restore and rejuvenate the precious water bodies of Gilsar and Khushalsar would not have been possible without the steadfast support of the Divisional Administration, SMC, LC&MA, and the collaborative efforts of all our partners and volunteers.”

The Honourable LG also presented an appreciation memento to Manzoor Wangnoo for his commendable work towards environmental awareness and action.

Mr. Wangnoo extended his appreciation to all the distinguished guests who attended the event, particularly Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, District Commissioner Srinagar, Secretary to Government HU&DD, Vice-Chancellor JKLC&MA, and other members of the civil and police administration. He acknowledged the contributions of numerous NGOs, schools, and community stakeholders whose collaboration with NLCO has been crucial to the success of Mission Ehsaas.

Wangnoo specially thanked the police and civil administration, SMC, LC&MA, stakeholders, Team NLCO, and Dr. Touseef Ahmad for their tremendous support in making this event a success.

The event saw active participation from students, civil society members, and environmental enthusiasts, all of whom contributed to a vibrant and engaging celebration of environmental stewardship. The collective resolve demonstrated today underscores the importance of community-led initiatives in achieving sustainable environmental outcomes.

Wangnoo in the statement said that “NLCO remains committed to its mission of conserving and enhancing the natural resources and ecological health of our environment. The successful execution of today’s event marks a significant milestone in this ongoing journey, reinforcing the collective resolve to protect and nurture our environment especially waterbodies.”

Wangnoo thanked all who were present at the event for their participation and support.
