Minister Says Heatwave Concerns Taken Seriously, Decision Depends on Sunday Weather

Srinagar, Jul 5, : Amid an ongoing heatwave across the Valley, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Saturday said that the government will take a final decision on extending summer vacations on Sunday.

Itoo said the department has been flooded with calls from parents and students requesting an extension, citing health concerns due to the intense heat. “We’re receiving continuous requests. If the weather doesn’t improve by tomorrow, we’ll take a suitable decision,” she stated.

Expressing hope for rainfall, she added, “We pray for Allah’s mercy. A final call will be taken after reviewing Sunday’s conditions.”

The current summer break is set to end early next week, but a possible extension now hinges on whether the heatwave persists.
