CUK’s SoE, Heartfulness institute organise prog on ‘life and social skills’

Ganderbal, Nov 5: The School of Education (SoE), Central University of Kashmir (CUK), in collaboration with the Heartfulness Institute of Hyderabad, conducted a five-day training programme on “life and social skills,” at the varsity’s Tulmulla campus, from October 30th to November 3rd, 2023.

Inaugurating the event, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, emphasized the significance of such events for student development and even proposed the possibility of an MoU with the Heartfulness Institute to facilitate student visits. He reiterated the importance of practical programmes like the one organized by Heartfulness Institute. He emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP)- 2020 places a strong emphasis on student mentoring and their holistic development. Prof. A Ravindernath further underscored the value of initiatives aimed at nurturing students’ personal and social skills for their overall growth and well-being.

Dean, SoE, Prof. Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, stressed the relevance of programmes like this in helping students cope with stress and anxiety, and expressed a commitment to extend such initiatives to all four CUK campuses. Faculty members, research scholars, and students attended the inaugural session, which marked the beginning of 15 technical sessions. Throughout the programme, participants engaged in various activities and discussions on core topics such as connecting, self-awareness, decision-making, time management, and more. Experts from different parts of the country were invited to share their insights on these subjects. The programme featured physical presence from Mr. Chandra Shekhar Patel and Mr. Sathesh Desai, both Heartfulness trainers from the Institute of Hyderabad. The event valediction was held on 3rd of November. The event coordinators, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, K. Nodal Officer NSS, Dr. Shar Ul Nisa Haroon, and Dr. Shabir Ahmad Bhat, played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the programme. Dr. Firdous Ahmad Sofal, Sr Asst Prof, proposed the vote of thanks.
