*02 Drug Peddlers Arrested by Awantipora Police; Narcotic Substances Recovered.*

Continuing its drive against the menace of drugs, Police in Awantipora achieved a major success by arresting two drug peddlers and recovering contraband substances from their possession.

During a joint naka checking at Kachkoot, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora, Insp. Ajaz Hmad, and IC Police Post Toll Plaza, SI Ishfaq Ahmad, apprehended two persons who were found roaming under suspicious circumstances.

The apprehended persons have been identified as:
1. Farooq Ahmad Zaroo, S/O Gh. Mohd Zaroo, R/O Sether,
2. Ifahaz Ul Mushtaq, S/O Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, R/O Pujteng.

During their personal search, the following contraband substances were recovered from their possession:

Heroin-like substance weighing 5.42 grams, Charas-powder like substance weighing 553 grams and Charas stick weighing 26.43 grams.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 242/2025 under sections 8/20, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora. Both the accused persons have been apprehended.

Police Awantipora is committed to curbing the menace of drugs and ensuring a drug-free society. The general public is once again appealed to cooperate with the police and share any information regarding drug peddling or related activities for timely action.
