Srinagar, Jun 07 : The Ministry of Education (MoE) has said that in Jammu and Kashmir there was a visible dropout trend among the students studying in Class-VIII.
The Ministry has accordingly directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to work on improving the issue.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), MoE in the Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting said, “A dropout trend is visible in Class VIII. UT is requested to look upon the data school wise in terms of data variation and work in coordination with UT labour department and capture the data of students pursuing ITIs and polytechnic and capture them into the database.”
In the meeting, Jammu and Kashmir administration has informed the MoE that in order to improve the retention rate at elementary and Primary Level, J&K UT, has developed and launched SAMIKSHA – performance Feedback of Teachers by per Students.
“It is web based and unique in nature. Besides, this STEER (Mentoring of Students) is being done and both the steps shall surely restore the confidence of parents and students on the education system in the state and will ensure to improve the retention rate,” it reads.
MoE was further informed that over the last two years, there is increasing trend in enrolment and which reflects the faith of the parents in government education System.
