Saudi Arabia urges restraint, calls for immediate halting of operations on both sides

Saudi’s Ministry of Defence issued a statement saying the kingdom was closely monitoring the “unprecedented developments between several Palestinian factions and the Israeli occupation forces, which resulted in an escalation of violence on several fronts”.

It said Riyadh calls for an immediate cessation of fire on both sides, urging for the protection of civilians and self-restraint.

It added that Saudi Arabia reiterated repeated warnings of the dangers of the situation due to the ongoing occupation, the deprivation of the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights and the repeated deliberate provocations against their sanctities.

It said that Saudi Arabia renewed its call to the international community to fulfil its duties and activate a credible peace process leading to a two-state solution to reach security and peace in the region and to protect civilians.
