Hon’ble Minister for Health &Family Welfare and Chemicals &Fertilizers , Shri J P Nadda performed the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for the POWERGRID Vishram Sadan at AIIMS Bilaspur today. This auspicious event signifies a major advancement in improving healthcare amenities for patients and their families. The Vishram Sadan, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), aims to provide affordable and comfortable accommodation for those traveling from distant regions for medical treatment. This project is a testament to POWERGRID’s commitment in supporting healthcare infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of the community.
The event was graced by Sh. Anurag Thakur , Member Parliament , Sh. Jai Ram Thakur , Ex-Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh ,Sh. Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director, POWERGRID, NR-II , Sh. Dayanand Sharma, Director (AIIMS-Bilaspur), Sh. Vinod P Baxla, General Manager(HR), POWERGRID along with several distinguished guests, including senior officials from POWERGRID ,AIIMS Bilaspur and HSCC.
The Vishram Sadan will be spread over an area of 4,650 square meters, featuring four storeys and 250 beds. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 26.75 crores and will include amenities such as waiting hall, cafeteria, and fully equipped rooms and dormitories. During the ceremony, Shri J P Nadda elaborated on the profound impact of such initiatives in alleviating the financial burden on patients and their families. He stressed that providing affordable and comfortable accommodation is crucial for those who travel long distances for medical treatment, as it significantly reduces their overall expenses and stress. He praised POWERGRID’s pivotal role in driving social and economic progress across the nation through its diverse CSR projects.
POWERGRID had earlier provided a state-of-the-art 128 Slice CT scan and a 1.5 Tesla MRI Machine to AIIMS, Bilaspur. This significant contribution, amounting to Rs. 22.92 crores during FY 2023-2024, that highlights POWERGRID’s unwavering commitment to advancing medical technology and improving patient care.
The event marks a significant milestone in the journey towards providing better healthcare facilities and support to the underprivileged sections of society. POWERGRID remains committed to its mission of fostering inclusive growth and development through its sustained efforts in various sectors, including healthcare, education, and rural development.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, with its regional headquarters in Northern Region-II at Jammu. POWERGRID is engaged in inter-state bulk power transmission, with 1,80,000 ckmof transmission lines, 281 substations, and more than 5,48,461 MVA of transformation capacity. By adopting the latest technological tools and techniques, and enhancing the use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has maintained an average transmission system availability of over 99%. POWERGRID’s performance has been consistently excellent, achieving very difficult measurable parameters set in the MoU signed with the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
