JKAP Chief Altaf Bukhari Questions Budget’s Impact, Calls for Domicile Law

Srinagar, Mar 9, : Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) President Altaf Bukhari has downplayed the significance of the recently announced budget, arguing that it fails to address the region’s pressing concerns, particularly in the absence of an elected government.
Speaking to the media, Bukhari emphasized that the real issue was the plight of J&K’s people, especially those incarcerated, rather than budget allocations. He questioned how the budget would benefit the public when the region has been without a government for the past seven years.
He also pushed for the urgent passage of a domicile law, ensuring residency rights for those living in J&K for 15 years. Addressing concerns over land ownership, Bukhari clarified that industrial land in Kotwa, leased since 1975, remains available for purchase while agricultural land is largely protected.
Criticizing the media for spreading panic, he urged people to rely on facts, stating that land policies have existed for decades and only lease terms have changed.
