Illegal extraction and transportation of minerals; Police seizes 7 vehicles, arrests 7 persons in Baramulla

Srinagar September 08: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 7 vehicles and arrested 7 persons in Baramulla.

A police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg seized 4 vehicles (3 tippers, 1 tractor) and arrested 4 drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Shrai & Ferozpora Tangmarh. They have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Akbar, Zahid Ahmad Reshi son of Ab Rahim, Waseem Ahmad Malik son of Gh Ahmad all resident of Paraswani Kunzer & Baider Ahmad Ahanger son of Mohd Sultan resident of Ferozpora.

Meanwhile, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla assisted by SHO PS Sheeri seized 03 vehicles (3 tippers) and arrested 3 drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Sheeri. They have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Maqbool, Bashir Ahmad Reshi son of Ab Hamid both residents of Jalsheeri & Khalid Hussain Malla son of Gh Ahmad resident of Kitchama.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Station and investigations have been initiated.

Persons found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
