DLSA Srinagar conducts Legal Awareness Program under DAWN

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 09: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in continuation of its awareness drive on the eve of National Youth Day, scheduled to be observed on 12th January, 2026, organized an awareness programme today in collaboration with Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum, marking the third day of the ongoing campaign.
The programme was held at Aakash Institute, Rajbagh, as part of the sustained efforts to sensitize youth on issues of legal awareness, drug abuse prevention and youth welfare.
The awareness programme was conducted under the NALSA DAWN (Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation – For a Drug Free India) Scheme, 2025.
Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Jahanara, deliberated in detail on the objectives and significance of the NALSA DAWN Scheme, highlighting the legal, social and health implications of drug abuse and the role of youth in building a drug-free society. She emphasized early intervention, legal support mechanisms and wellness navigation as key components of the scheme.
Member of the Legal Services Unit for Children (LSUC), addressed the participants on the NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme, 2024, sensitizing them about child-centric legal safeguards, access to justice for children and the role of legal services institutions in protecting child rights.
Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, also interacted with the students and emphasized the importance of National Youth Day, underscoring the responsibility of young individuals in shaping a lawful, healthy and responsible society.
The participants actively engaged in the programme, reflecting keen interest in the issues discussed.
The awareness drive shall continue till 12th January, 2026, with DLSA Srinagar reaffirming its commitment towards empowering youth through legal awareness and social responsibility.
