Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals; Police seizes 6 vehicles, arrests 4 drivers in Baramulla & Shopian

March 10: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 6 vehicles and arrested 4 drivers in Baramulla & Shopian.

In Baramulla, police parties under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla & SDPO Kreeri assisted by SHO PS Baramulla & SHO PS Kreeri seized 4 vehicles (02 tippers & 02 tractors) and arrested 4 drivers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Wanigam Payeen & Town Baramulla. The accused drivers have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar resident of Naidkhai Sumbal, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Dar resident of Wanigam Payeen, Javid Ahmad Mir resident of Rangwar Baramulla & Gh Mohi ud din Akhoon resident of Khanpora Baramulla.

In Shopian, a police party of Police Station Zainapora seized 02 vehicles (tipper & JCB), involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the jurisdiction of Police Station Zainapora. Both the vehicles were handed over to the officials of Geological and Mining department.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
