Director Sericulture Launches Phase 3 of Kisan Sampark Abhiyan in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 10 : Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Director Sericulture J&K, launched the third phase of the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan today at Nowgam, Srinagar. This significant initiative aims to foster agricultural development and empower farmers in the region. The event saw a large turnout of farmers and representatives from various line departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Sheep Husbandry, and Animal Husbandry.

Bhat emphasized that the program, organized under the guidance of Shailendra Kumar (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Government, Agriculture Production Department J&K, aims to disseminate mass awareness among silkworm rearers, farmers, youth, and women. The campaign seeks to enhance extension services and bridge the gap between laboratory research and practical field applications under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).

During his address, Bhat announced the establishment of 2000 Kisan Khidmat Centers. These centers will ensure robust linkages with all line departments and universities, provide technical support, and contribute to comprehensive agricultural plans and models. They will also facilitate service delivery at farmers’ doorsteps and conduct impact analyses of various schemes.

The event featured testimonials from farmers who shared their positive experiences with the awareness programs. Bhat encouraged farmers and young entrepreneurs interested in agriculture and allied sectors to apply online for incentives and skill acquisition through the Kisan Sathi and Kisan Daksh web portals.

He assured the farmers and stakeholders that their grievances would be addressed on priority. Farmers can directly approach the Agriculture Production Department through Zonal, Sub-division, and District Offices for assistance. Bhat urged all stakeholders to actively participate in these schemes and programs to double their income and achieve a dignified livelihood.

The event was attended by District Agriculture Officers, District Sericulture Officers, District Horticulture Officers, and other officials, demonstrating a collaborative effort to support and uplift the agricultural community in J&K.
