Police arrests drug peddler in Kupwara; Contraband Substance recovered
January 11: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kupwara arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
During the preceding night, acting on specific information regarding hoarding of narcotic substances by one person namely Fareed Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Rehman Sheikh a resident of Hajitra Taad at his residential house. Accordingly, a police party alongwith Executive Magistrate Ist class Tangdhar raided the said house. During search, 580 grams of Heroin like narcotics substance was recovered. The accused person has arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 06/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Karnah and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
