JK’s Sports Talent goes for a toss, Could have produced Kohlis, Rohits’, Shamis’, Bhumrahs’ but Dr Farooq Abdullah led JKCA gobbled Rs 113 Cr: BJP leader Altaf Thakur

Says money siphoned will have to be returned with interest, it was right of young talent of J&K, Dr Farooq can’t dance anymore now as he is too old

Srinagar, Jan 11: Lashing out at the National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, senior BJP leader and party’s JK spokesman AltafThakur Thursday said that Rs 113 crore were gobbled by Dr Farooq led team in JK Cricket Association as he was the president of the same from 2001 to 2011.

Thakur in statement said that ED has nailed the truth and it seems that Dr Farooq has siphoned Rs 113 core meant for training and exploring the cricketing talent of JK. “We could have also produced players like Kohli, Rohit, Shami and Bhumrah but when money was embezelled by NC chief and his supporters in JKCA, dreams of many were lost as their flights couldn’t take off and remained grounded, ” Thakur said, adding that Dr Farooq will have to return Rs 113 crore with interest as gone are the days when funds meant for the JK youth were swallowed by those at the helm. Thakur sought an explanation from Dr Farooq as to why he resorted to open loot of JK resources. The JKCA scam seems to be tip of ice-berg as one can imagine about the loot as NC remained in the power for almost over three decades from 1980’s.

Farooq Abdullah was the president of JKCA when the alleged irregularities were noticed in the state cricket body between 2001 and 2011. It has been alleged that around Rs 113 crore were siphoned off by the JKCA office bearers from the association funds. Hailing the ED for fool proof investigations, Thakur urged the investigating agency to expose all those involved in gobbling the money meant for JK youth including students.
