Tanvir Sadiq Reiterates Demand for J&K Statehood

Srinagar, Feb 11, : National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq has once again emphasized the urgency of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, citing unresolved governance issues due to its absence. He urged the central government to expedite the process for the region’s stability and progress.

While talking to reporters, Sadiq disclosed that NC leader Omar Abdullah recently met with Union Home Minister to discuss key concerns, including the situation in Kathua and Sopore. Expressing concern over civilian casualties, he stressed that such incidents deepen alienation and obstruct peace efforts.

“We have raised the issue at the highest level. Law and order is not in our hands, but we remain committed to advocating for people’s rights. The loss of innocent lives must be prevented,” he asserted.
He also touched on governance matters, the upcoming budget, and pressing regional issues. “The meeting was constructive, and we are hopeful of positive developments,” Sadiq remarked.

On the plight of daily wage workers, he acknowledged their struggles but requested patience, stating that the new government requires time to shape policies. “The budget session is nearing, and their concerns will be addressed,” he assured.

Reiterating the NC’s stance on peaceful demonstrations, he concluded, “Protest is a democratic right, and we will continue to advocate for the resolution of public grievances.”
