Punjab: Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India held a performance review meeting of Northern Railway today at Baroda House, New Delhi. Sh. Ravneet Singh Bittu thoroughly assessed the safety, punctuality and progress of station Up-gradation & redevelopment program under the Amrit Bharat Scheme and One station One product (OSOP) scheme. He also took stock of various ongoing infrastructure projects of national importance like Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail link Project (USBRL) and Rishikesh- Karnaprayag Rail link project. Out of 272 Km of the USBRL Project, 209 Km is already functional. He said the all-weather rail link will significantly contribute to the economic development of Jammu & Kashmir, boosting tourist footfall and providing cheaper transport for goods, especially for fruits and growers, fostering improved trade and access.
 
He also thoroughly reviewed the ongoing construction of Rishikesh- Karnaprayag Rail link project. He informed that the Rishikesh- Karnaprayag Rail link project will facilitate easy access to pilgrimage centers situated in the state of Uttarakhand and boost the tourism in the state.
 
Sh. Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager presented a brief overview of Northern Railway and apprised the Minister about various ongoing projects over Northern Railway. Other PHODs were also present in the meeting.
 
Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister of State for Railways instructed that safety, punctuality, cleanliness and infrastructure projects should be the prime focus of Railway. He emphasized upon improvement of passenger amenities at stations and safely running of trains.
 
His commitment to transform the Indian Railway into Modern and efficient network was evident throughout the meeting. Further, Sh. Ravneet Singh Bittu commended the dedicated efforts of railway staff of Northern Railway and expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far by Northern Railway.
