Two drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that a Police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Shrai Tangmarg , intercepted one person identified as Abdul Ahad Wagay son of Gh Mohiuddin resident of Shrai. During search, 8 kgs of contraband Poppy Straw & 3.5 kgs of Poppy Powder like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg where they remained in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has been initiated.

During questioning, the accused disclosed name of his accomplice identified as Mohammad Ashraf Wani son of Gh Rasool resident of Kitchimatpora, and upon his disclosure 900 gms of Poppy Powder was recovered from his possession. He has also been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.“`
