
Srinagar 11th December 2023 : The Kashmir Advocates Association (KAA) extends its heartfelt commendation for the landmark decision delivered by the Supreme Court of India, upholding the constitutional validity of the abrogation of Article 370. This historic judgment marks a significant moment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, paving the way for unprecedented growth, prosperity, and development in the region.
The Supreme Court’s five-judge bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, has delivered a momentous verdict that recognizes the legal foundation underpinning the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Adv Waseem Gul, President of the Kashmir Advocates Association, hails the judgment as a testament to the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into the fabric of India.
The abrogation of Article 370 from the Constitution of India is a historical and momentous decision that will make the people of Kashmir proud, stated Waseem Gul. This judgment is a step towards eradicating terrorism from its roots in Jammu and Kashmir, fostering prosperity, and ensuring equal development opportunities for the region.
The Supreme Court has aptly affirmed that Article 370 was a temporary provision in the constitution of India, with the intention of gradually bringing it at par with other states of the country. The unanimous and historic judgment reiterates that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, as evident from Article 1 of the Constitution.
