Srinagar: The tangible outcomes of the Modi government’s pro-poor welfare initiatives were vividly showcased during the Jarayatra.
Under the auspices of the Bharat Sankalp Yatra Centre, overseeing a nationwide campaign, significant strides are being made in Jammu and Kashmir. The Centre is dedicated to optimizing government schemes, ensuring their efficacy and reaching genuine beneficiaries. Aligned with the vision of propelling India towards developed status by 2047, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed remarkable growth over the past four years, particularly in agriculture.
The implementation of the Prime Minister Kisan (PM Kisan) scheme has been instrumental. This scheme provides direct income of Rs 6,000 annually to farmers in Jammu and Kashmir, thereby reshaping the agricultural landscape. With over 11.98 lakh farmers benefiting and a total disbursement exceeding Rs 2,719 crore since its inception, the scheme has provided substantial financial support, underscoring the government’s commitment to the farming community’s development.
Moreover, the establishment of approximately 2,924 Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samradhi Kendras has further facilitated and enhanced agricultural activities. Testimonies from farmers like Chadoora from Budgam illustrate the scheme’s positive impact, highlighting timely access to pesticides and fertilizers, leading to increased production and improved financial stability.
Running concurrently with the PM Kisan initiative, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme has been pivotal in financially empowering farmers in Jammu and Kashmir. Farmers like Ashok Kumar from Udhampur express gratitude for the KCC scheme, acknowledging its role in effectively managing finances for sowing. The scheme empowers farmers to utilize funds judiciously, with fixed post-harvest payments, offering a sustainable financing model for agricultural endeavors.
Similar sentiments are echoed by Abdul Rashid Bhatt, who emphasizes the crucial role of Kisan Credit Cards in securing loans at favorable interest rates. This financial backing has enabled him to establish and expand his vegetable farming business, showcasing the tangible impact of the Modi government’s pro-poor welfare schemes.
Success stories, such as Abdul Hameed Ganai from Kulgam, further exemplify the positive effects of the PM Kisan scheme. Timely financial assistance has empowered farmers like him to augment their agricultural income, contributing significantly to the region’s overall prosperity.
The synergistic efforts of the PM Kisan and KCC schemes have ushered in a new era of agricultural empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir. These initiatives not only provide financial assistance but also instill a sense of confidence and resilience within the farming community.
As the Bharat Sankalp Yatra progresses, its primary objective remains to extend the benefits of these schemes to previously overlooked beneficiaries. The success stories from Jammu and Kashmir exemplify how well-designed government schemes can translate into prosperity and constructive transformation.
