Thana Diwas organized across all Police Stations in J&K

Srinagar, May 12: The Thana Diwas was today observed with great enthusiasm across all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir with senior officers organizing meetings with the public in their respective jurisdictions to address the public grievances. As a part of this diwas number of functions were organized today across J&K in all districts including Police districts in which members of civil society, Panchayati Raj, members of Traders Federation, Nambardar and Chowkidars participated.

On the occasion, the respective District Police Administrations organized related events at Police stations levels of the district to listen to the public issues, grievances and raise awareness on various Police services. Celebrating the Thana Diwas is aimed at redressing the public grievances and providing the police services to the masses at their door steps to strengthen grassroot Police-Public ties. Moreover, conducting “Thana Diwas” is also to provide awareness of drug de-addiction among the youth and cooperation of the general public was sought in eradicating the social evils prevailing in the society, particularly menace of drugs.

These meetings were organised in all the Police establishments throughout all the districts including PDs.

In Anantnag, the event was chaired by SSP Anantnag Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra at Police Station Mattan who was accompanied by DySP Hqrs Anantnag and SHO P/S Mattan. Thana Diwas was also observed at PS Anantnag, PS Achabal, PS Aishmuqam, PS Bijbehara, PS Dooru, PS Kokernag, PS Pahalgam, PS Srigufwara, PS Larnoo & PS Utrasoo in the district.

In Pulwama, the event was organised at Police Station Rajpora, PS Pulwama, PS Litter & PS Kakapora. At PS Rajpora, the meeting was presided over by SSP Pulwama Shri Gh Jeelani Wani who was accompanied by DySP Hqrs Pulwama and SHO PS Rajpora.

In Shopian, the event was conducted at PS Shopian which was chaired by SSP Shopian Ms Tanushree along with ASP Shopian and SHO PS Shopian, at PS Imamsahib the programme too was chaired by SSP Shopian Ms Tanushree alongwith ASP Shopian, DySP Imamsahib and SHO PS Imamsahib. At PS Zainapora the event was chaired by SDPO Zainapora and SHO PS Zainapora and at PS Keller the event was chaired by the DySP Ops Shopian and SHO Keller. At PS Hurpora, the event was chaired by the DySP Hqrs Shopian and SHO PS Hurpora.

In Kulgam, the event was conducted at PS Qazigund by ASP NHW Qazigund Kulgam, SDPO Qazigund, and SHO Qazigund. At PS Qaimoh the event was conducted by DySP PC Mirbazar & SHO Qaimoh. At PS Manzgam the event was conducted by SDPO DH Pora & SHO Manzgam and at PS Devsar the event was conducted by DySP Mirbazar & SHO Devsar. At PS Yaripora the event was conducted by DySP PC Hatipora and SHO Yaripor and at PS DH Pora the event was conducted by SDPO DH Pora and SHO PS DH Pora.

In Awantipora, the event was organized at PS Pampore, PS Awantipora and PS Tral. These programmes were chaired by SSP Awantipora Shri Mohd Yousuf who was accompanied by SDPO Pampore, Tral, Awantipora along with concerned SHOs.

In Srinagar, the event was organized at 15 Police Stations of the district & chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers in the presence of one supervisory officer.

In Budgam, the event was conducted at PS Budgam/Humhama, PS Chrar-e-Sharief, PS Magam and PP Pakherpora. The main event was chaired by SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem at Budgam who was accompanied by DySP Hqrs Budgam, SHO PS Budgam, In-Charge PP Humhama and In-charge PP Soibugh. Similarly, SDPO Charar-e-Sharief Shri Salim Jehangir accompanied by SHO PS Chrar-e-Sharief and other officers presided over the “Thana Diwas” at Police Station Cheraresharief. At PS Magam the event was chaired by SDPO Magam accompanied by SHO PS Magam, SHO PS Beerwah, In-charge PP Narbal and In-charge PP Hardpanzoo.

In Ganderbal, the event was organized at PS Safapora and PS Gund in which a large gathering of people took part. The Programme was chaired by DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Shri Ghulam Hassan and SDPO Kangan Shri Yasir Qadri under the direction of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar. The participants at PS Gund were assured of providing a secure environment for upcoming SANJY-2022.

In Baramulla, the programme was conducted at PP Mirgund and was chaired by SSP Baramulla Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat. SDPO Pattan Shri Mohammad Nawaz Khanday, SHO PS Pattan and IC PP Mirgund and other staff of Sub Division Pattan were present. At PS Kreeri the event was chaired by SSP Baramulla who was accompanied by SDPO Kreeri, SHO PS Kreeri and IC PP Wagoora and other staff of sub division Kreeri. At PS Sheeri the event was chaired by ASP Baramulla alongwith DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SHO PS Sheeri and other staff of Police Station Sheeri. The event at PP Delina was chaired by DySP Hqrs Baramulla alongwith SHO PS Baramulla and IC PP Delina and other staff of Police Station Baramulla & Police Post Delina.

In Kupwara, the event was conducted at all Police Stations of the district. SSP Kupwara Shri Yougal Kumar Manhas who was accompanied by DySP PC Lolab & SHO PS Lalpora held Thana Diwas at Police Station Lalpora. Moreover Thana Divas was also observed at PS Kupwara, PS Trehgam, PS Kralpora, PS Sogam, PS Karnah & PS Keran.

In Bandipora, the event was organized at all Police Stations of the district, chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers. At PS Bandipora, the event was chaired by SSP Bandipora Shri Mohammad Zahid who was accompanied by DySP Hqrs Bandipora & SHO PS Bandipora. At PS Hajin the event was chaired by DySP Hajin and at PS Gurez the event was chaired by SDPO Gurez Shri Bashir Ahmad.

In Sopore, the event was organized at all Police Stations of the police district, chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers.

In Handwara, the event was conducted at Police Station Vilgam by SP Handwara Ms. Sheema Nabi Qasba who was accompanied by ASP Handwara, SDPO Handwara and SHO PS Vilgam and at PP Magam the event was conducted by ASP Handwara accompanied by SDPO Handwara, SHO PS Handwara and IC PP Magam.

In Doda, the Thana Diwas program was held at Police Station Doda. Presided over by SSP Doda Sh. Ab. Qayoom the programme was attended by BDC Chairman & Sarpanches and senior citizens. At Police Station Bhaderwah the programme was chaired by ASP HQ Doda and was attended by BDC Chairman, Sarpanches and other senior citizens of the area.

In Kishtwar, at Police Station Drabshall and Police Post Hidyal Kishtwar. SSP Kishtwar Sh. Shafqat Hussain and ASP Kishtwar chaired the programme respectively. Jurisdiction officers were also present on the occasion.

In Samba, SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan attended the “Thana Diwas” at Police Station Ghagwal and listened to the issues raised by the Public related to Police and were addressed on the spot by the SSP Samba and necessary directions were issued to concerned Police Officers in this regard. SHO PS Ghagwal and Incharge Police Post Rajpura among other Police Officers were also present on the occasion. At Police Station Samba, “Thana Diwas” was attended by DySP Hqrs Samba (I/C Addl. SP Samba) along with SHO & all I/C Police Posts falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba. “Thana Diwas” at rest of the Police Stations of District Samba was attended by concerned Supervisory Officers/ SHOs.

At District Reasi Thana Diwas observed at Hargam Gulabgarh where SSP Reasi Shri Amit Gupta listened to the issues of the people. Program was attended by PRI’s and other respectable people of the area.

SP Katra Shri Amit Bhasin Observed Thana Diwas at Police Post Kakriyal, where PRI’S and locals of the area attended the event and put forth their issues. SSP and other officers of Reasi Police assured the redressal of issues put forth by locals on priority.

At District Ramban “Thana Diwas” at Police Station Gool was chaired by Shri Nihar Ranjan, SDPO Gool along with IC P/S Gool along with ICPP Sangaldan. The meeting was attended by respectable citizens of Gool area including Sarpanchs, Panchs of different villages falling within the jurisdiction of P/S Gool.

Thana Diwas at District Poonch was organized at the Police Station Poonch and Surankote of this District.

In District Rajouri Thana Diwas was organised at Police station Rajouri and Police station Manjakot.

Thana Diwas was also organised in other districts of Jammu province in which senior jurisdictional officers presided over the meetings.

The members of civil society highlighted their grievances and demands which were carefully noted and disposed of on spot. Participants appreciated the initiative of organizing Thana Diwas for addressing public grievances at police station level. Members of civil society were requested to extend their cooperation to police for eradication of social evils, especially drug menace.

During these meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured by the concerned chairing officers that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal.

While speaking on the occasions, the chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in policing at grass-root level and to hear and redress grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the respective areas.

Community members thanked the Police for conducting such meetings and for developing a bridge of trust among police and public and requested for regular conduct of such programmes in future as well.

Pertinent to mention here that Thana Diwas programmes will be observed twice in a month on 2nd and last Thursday wherein senior functionaries of the department i.e GOs from all ranks shall attend these programmes personally to listen to the police related/other grievances of the general public for on spot assessment/redressal.
