Moderate Earthquake Jolts north Kashmir, No Damage Reported
Srinagar, July 12 : A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir at 12:26 p.m. today.
The epicenter was located at 34.32°N and 74.41°E, with a depth of 5 km, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The quake released an estimated 1.3 x 10^11 joules of energy, equivalent to 35 megawatt hours or 30.1 tons of TNT.
Tremors were felt across Kashmir, causing alarm among residents. Fortunately, no damage or injuries have been reported.
