Commissioner Secretary, I&C hoists National Flag and unveils ‘Martyrs’ Memorial’ at JKEDI as a part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ Campaign.

Srinagar: In a profound display of unwavering patriotism and respect for the Nation’s martyrs, Vikramjit Singh (IPS), Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce (I&C) led a solemn ceremony today at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), where the National Flag was hoisted and a ‘Martyrs’ Memorial’ was unveiled. The event marked a significant event in the ongoing ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, dedicated to commemorating the sacrifices of these valiant souls.
The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign has resonated with citizens across the Union Territory, urging them to reflect upon their responsibility towards the nation and its unity. The unveiling of the ‘Martyrs’ Memorial’ at JKEDI stands as a testament to this commitment, serving as a symbol of remembrance, courage, and collective determination.
While speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary, I&C conveyed his sentiments, noting, “Today, as we raise our National Flag and unveil this poignant memorial, we extend our sincerest respect to our martyrs, individuals who selflessly laid down their lives for our Nation’s cause. Their sacrifices remain a source of inspiration, infusing us with courage. This memorial, a timeless homage, stands testament to their unwavering dedication.”
In his address, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director, JKEDI said that the Institute honors the determined spirit of the martyrs who laid down their lives for a better tomorrow. The memorial at JKEDI is a poignant representation of sacrifice, courage and serves as a constant reminder to future generations, encapsulating the sacrifices made and inspiring them to uphold the values these martyrs held dear. JKEDI has already organised series of events under the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign with full fervor, which included plantation drives, Panch Pran Pledge, Tiranga rallies and cleanliness drives. We will continue to hold different events in all the district of the UT.”
As an integral part of this campaign, a significant number of trees were planted within the JKEDI campus, symbolizing the campaign’s dedication to a greener and more sustainable future.
Later in the day, the Commissioner Secretary also chaired an event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO). During the event, they distributed organic certificates to saffron growers in Pulwama, recognizing and acknowledging their dedicated efforts. This initiative aims to enhance the value of their produce, making it more appealing and valuable in the international market.
Among the attendees of the event were Khalid Jehangir, the Managing Director, JKTPO, along with the Joint Director of Agriculture, as well as several other officers and saffron farmers from Pulwama.
The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign’s momentum continues to grow, engaging people from all walks of life. Through its diverse initiatives, programs, and events, the campaign strives to foster unity, patriotism, and an enduring appreciation for the sacrifices that have shaped the nation’s trajectory.
