Speaker Issues Show-Cause Notice to PDP MLA Waheed Para Over Social Media Post

Srinagar,12- September-:- September 12: The Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has issued a show-cause notice to PDP MLA from Pulwama, Waheed Para, over a social media post concerning the detention of MLA Doda, Mehraj Malik, under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Officials said the Speaker Ab Raheem Rather has sought an explanation from Para, noting that his remarks on the issue may be in violation of legislative norms and decorum. The notice directs Para to clarify his position within a stipulated time.

Mehraj Malik, MLA from Doda, was recently detained under the PSA, a move that has triggered widespread political debate. Para’s post questioning the detention prompted the Speaker’s intervention.
