Kashmir Now Synonymous with Tourism, Not Terrorism :LG Sinha
Srinagar, Jan 13 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said a major shift in Jammu and Kashmir’s narrative, stating that the focus is now on tourism rather than terrorism.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, he highlighted the tunnel’s dual significance for both tourism and national security.
“The Sonamarg Tunnel will be a game changer, providing year-round connectivity that will attract more tourists and also strengthen our Army’s logistical support in the region,” LG Sinha said.
He stressed that improved infrastructure, such as the Z-Morh Tunnel, will enhance accessibility to Kashmir’s scenic destinations, boosting the local economy and making the region a premier travel destination. The tunnel also holds strategic importance for the Indian Army, ensuring seamless movement and operational efficiency in high-altitude areas.
With such developments, LG Sinha reiterated that the discourse around Jammu and Kashmir is changing. “People should now talk about tourism in Kashmir instead of terrorism,” he asserted, underlining the region’s commitment to progress and stability.
