PM Modi Says Jammu and Kashmir as India’s Crown
Sonamarg, Jan 13, : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the 6.5 km Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant milestone for year-round connectivity and boosting tourism in the region.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the workers who braved harsh conditions to complete the project. “I want to thank all the brothers who worked tirelessly, risking their lives, for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation. Seven of our labor colleagues lost their lives during this endeavor, and today, I honor their memory and contribution,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to development, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his resolve to deliver on promises. “You can be sure—this is Modi. If he makes a promise, he keeps it. There is a time for every task, and the right work is done at the right time,” he said.
Discussing the impact of the tunnel, Modi remarked, “The Sonamarg Tunnel will significantly ease the lives of the people in Sonamarg, Kargil, and Leh. Its construction began in 2015 when our government came to power, and I am proud that it has been completed under our leadership. My mantra is that we not only start projects but also see them through to completion.”
He further emphasized the ongoing developmental initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. “This tunnel is just the beginning. Many more road and rail connectivity projects are underway. Kashmir will soon be connected by rail. Hospitals, colleges, and other infrastructure are being built. This is the new Jammu and Kashmir, a symbol of progress and promise,” Modi added.
The Z-Morh Tunnel is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity, fostering tourism, and transforming the economic landscape of the region. (CNS)
