Ganderbal, Jan 13, : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday outlined a significant shift in the narrative of Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that the region is now focused on tourism rather than militancy. Speaking at the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, LG Sinha highlighted the tunnelโs pivotal role in enhancing both tourism and national security.
โThe Sonamarg Tunnel is a game changer. It will provide year-round connectivity, boosting tourism and also enhancing the Indian Armyโs logistical capabilities in the region,โ Sinha remarked.
He pointed out that the improved infrastructure, including the Z-Morh Tunnel, would not only improve access to Kashmirโs breathtaking destinations but also promote local economic growth by positioning the region as a premier travel spot.
In addition to its tourism benefits, the tunnel holds strategic importance for the Indian Army, facilitating efficient movement and operations in challenging high-altitude areas.
Reiterating the shift in Jammu and Kashmir’s narrative, LG Sinha emphasized, โThe conversation should now be about tourism in Kashmir, not terrorism.โ He expressed confidence that with such developments, the region is on the path to long-term progress and stability. (CNS)
