As Sgr records heat wave again, MeT predicts 3-day wet spell from Aug 15

Srinagar, Aug 13 : With possibility of light to moderate rainfall at many places of Jammu and Kashmir from August 15, Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory, continued to record heat wave on Tuesday where the mercury settled at 34.6 degree Celsius.

Talking to the news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the hot weather conditions would continue to prevail tomorrow while there is a possibility of a three-day wet spell from August 15.

โ€œThe light rainfall is expected at multiple places of Kashmir while some of the areas would receive moderate rainfall as well. The change in the prevailing weather conditions are expected from August 15 morning,โ€ he said.

However, Srinagar has recorded a heat wave today again at 34.6 degree Celsius, which was 4.6 degree above normal.

In Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, the mercury settled at 32.4 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam and Kupwara, it settled at 29.4 degree Celsius and 34.6 degree Celsius respectively.

Kokernag and Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded a maximum temperature of 31.7 degree Celsius and 23.8 degree Celsius respectively.

Jammu has recorded an equal temperature of Srinagar at 34.6 degree Celsius while in Banihal, the mercury settled at 29.7 degree Celsius.

Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 27.5 degree Celsius, 31.5 degree Celsius and 31.4 degree Celsius respectivelyโ€”(KNO)
