High level delegation from the Dera meets Ravneet Bittu and senior officials of the division
New Delhi:Indian Railways will extend every support to the Dera Radha Soami Satsang Management in every aspect. Majority of the traffic during the Satsang and on the Normal days travel on the Railways to the Dera located in Beas town of Punjab. After deliberating high level meeting with the members from the Dera Radha Soami Satsang and senior officials from the northern Railways, S Ravneet Singh Bittu Minister of State For Railways and food processing industries said that the Railways understand the massive foot fall of the Dera followers during Satsang and normal days, keeping this in mind the new station building of the Railway station Beas which is being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Stations will be made a world class infrastructure station with all the civic amenities. The Minister also asked the officials to once personally visit the Railway station Beas and do certain amendments as suggested by the Dera Management today before the tender is floated and the design is finally approved.
Bittu said that the Beas railway station handles 30 to 40000 travelers in the peak season and 6000 travelers daily but in the coming times they would be expecting traffic of 60 to 70000 travelers during Satsang season. The delegation from the Dera suggested few changes in the proposed lay out of the station for which the Minister directed the General Manager northern railway to examine.
The Delegation was of the view that in view of heavy foot fall on the Beas railway station two more platform lines should be made in addition to the existing two platforms in the proposed design. The entry to the Railway station from the Dera side should have direct approach from the circulating area and through the station building. The roof Plaza should be increased to 36 Meter from the proposed 24metre. Instead of proposed multi-level parking surface parking should be given which accommodates more cars, busses, three wheelers and taxis. The delegation was also of the view that the freight handling should be shifted to the adjacent station and Beas Station should be made purely coaching terminal.
The senior officials who attended the meeting included Sh. Shobham Chaudhary General Manager Northern railways, Sh. Vijay Partap Singh Principal Chief Engineer Norther Railway and from the Dera the delegation included Sh. D. K Sikri secretary RSSB,
