J&K Government Arranges Free Buses at Delhi Airport for Students Returning From Iran

New Delhi, March 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government arranged buses at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi to transport students from the Union Territory who had returned to India after being stranded in Iran, officials and student representatives said.

The buses were stationed in the parking area of the airport to facilitate the onward journey of students willing to travel back to Jammu and Kashmir after their arrival in the national capital.

Officials said the arrangement was made by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure that the returning students could reach their homes safely and without additional travel difficulties.

The move came after several students from Jammu and Kashmir studying in Iran arrived in Delhi following coordinated efforts to facilitate their return amid the evolving situation in the region.

Student representatives said many of the returning students required assistance in travelling from Delhi to different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

To address this, the Jammu and Kashmir government arranged buses at the airport so that students could travel directly towards the Union Territory.

Vice President, All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA), Dr Mohammad Moomin Khan said the initiative helped ease the travel concerns of students who had already undergone a long international journey.

“We are thankful for the arrangements made to ensure that students can travel safely to Jammu and Kashmir after arriving in Delhi,” he said.

The organization also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs for facilitating the safe return of students from Iran.

Student representatives additionally acknowledged the support extended by Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Nasir Sogami in addressing issues faced by the stranded students.

Officials said the transportation arrangement at the airport was part of broader efforts to assist students returning from abroad and ensure their smooth travel back to their home districts.

Students who arrived in the capital were guided towards the designated buses in the airport parking area before beginning their journey to Jammu and Kashmir.

The evacuation and transportation efforts were coordinated between different government agencies and representatives to ensure timely assistance to the returning students.
