Gunfight Erupts During Search Operation in Poonch’s Surankote

Poonch, April 15, : A brief exchange of fire took place between militants and security forces in Lasana village of Surankote in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday night, officials said.

The gunfight broke out after a joint team of police and Army launched a cordon-and-search operation following inputs about the presence of militants in the area. “Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with Police at Lasana, Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping,” Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X.

One Army soldier was injured in the firing and has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Security has been tightened in the area and search operations are still underway.
