NC, BJP Working in Sync While Pretending to be Rivals: Iltija Mufti

Srinagar, Apr 15, PDP leader Iltija Mufti has accused the National Conference of having a “tactical understanding” with the BJP, claiming both parties are working in sync while pretending to be rivals.
Talking to reporters, Iltija alleged that NC is only driven by a hunger for power. “They don’t care about the people. Everyone knows the corruption that plagued the Auqaf under their watch. It was Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who brought transparency to the Wakf Board,” she said.
Criticizing NC’s silence over the Wakf law, Iltija questioned why Farooq Abdullah termed the matter subjudice, yet had no such restraint while raising Article 370, which was also before the Supreme Court. “It’s a double standard and a lame excuse,” she said.
She also took a dig at Omar Abdullah for “sharing a camaraderie” with Union Minister Kiran Rijiju, who tabled the Wakf Bill. “Their closeness says it all,” she added.
Rejecting statehood as the end goal, Iltija said, “We come from a state that had its own constitution. Our fight isn’t limited to being downgraded to a Union Territory.”
