
Srinagar, Jul 15 (GNS): The minimum temperature continued to hover below normal at most places in Jammu and Kashmir following more rains in the last 24 hours, officials said on Friday. The weatherman has forecast improvement in the rainfall activity till July 19.
A meteorological department official here said that during last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, 2.6 mm of rainfall was recorded in Srinagar, 38.8 mm in Qazigund, 16.7 mm in Pahalgam, 0.6 mm in Kupwara, 30.8 mm in Kokernag, 1.6 mm in Gulmarg, 91.3 mm in Jammu, 34.8 mm in Banihal, 35.4 mm in Batote, 16.8 mm Katra and 34.0 mm in Bhaderwah.
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a low of 17.0ยฐC against 17.3ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 1.4ยฐC โbelowโ normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, the MeT official told GNS.
Qazigund recorded a low of 16.2ยฐC against 16.5ยฐC on the previous night. The temperature was 0.5ยฐC below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 13.3ยฐC against 11.7ยฐC on the previous night and it was 0.8ยฐC above normal for the south Kashmir resort. Kokernag recorded a low of 15.2ยฐC against 15.3ยฐC last night and it was 0.8ยฐC below normal for the place, he said.
World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 10.6ยฐC against 11.5ยฐC and it was 1.2ยฐC below normal for the place. Kupwara town saw a low of 15.1ยฐC against 16.1ยฐC on previous night and it was 1.5ยฐC โbelowโ normal for the place during this time of the season, the official told Global News Service.
Jammu recorded a low of 23.5ยฐC against 23.1ยฐC on the previous night. It was 1.75ยฐC below normal for J&Kโs winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 16.4ยฐC, Batote 15.9ยฐC, Katra 22.0ยฐC while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 16.9ยฐC, the official said.
โFrom afternoon of July 15 to July 19, the weather is going to be largely better with lesser possibility of rain. Sun is expected to come out during these days,โ the official said. (GNS)
