Kulgam Police Attaches Property Worth ₹61 Lakh of Detained Drug Peddler under NDPS Act

Kulgam, October 15:
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Kulgam Police on Tuesday attached property belonging to a detained drug peddler, Ghulam Rasool Dar, son of Late Abdul Rehman Dar, resident of Vidoe Mishipora, Police Station Qaimoh, under the provisions of Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The said accused is involved in FIR No. 62/2021 U/S 8/15-29 NDPS Act of Police Station Qaimoh, in which 520 kilograms of poppy straw were recovered. He is already detained under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in NDPS Act (PIT-NDPS) and is presently lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The attached property, valued at approximately ₹61 lakh, was identified as being illegally acquired through the proceeds of narcotics trafficking. The attachment order was executed by a police team in the presence of local residents and an Executive Magistrate, following a detailed investigation conducted by Police Station Qaimoh.
This decisive action is part of the ongoing anti-drug drive by Kulgam Police, aimed at dismantling narcotics networks and eliminating their sources of funding in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam, Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), reaffirmed the police’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society. He said that strict action will continue against all individuals involved in drug trafficking, including the attachment of properties acquired through illegal narcotics trade, to break the drug supply chain and safeguard youth from addiction.
Local residents appreciated the strong action taken by Kulgam Police, lauding their continuous efforts to protect the community from the threat of drugs.
Kulgam Police has urged the general public to extend cooperation and share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
