Five Arrested for Illegal Gambling in Budgam; Stake Money Seized

Budgam, Fe 16- :- 2025: In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrested five individuals in the Narbal area of district Budgam. The police also seized stake money amounting to ₹33,500 along with playing cards from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off from reliable sources told current News Service, the Police Post Narbal received information that some individuals were engaged in gambling activities in an open agricultural land near Jawaharpora Narbal. A police team led by the In-charge of Police Post Narbal swiftly conducted a raid at the location, apprehending five persons red-handed.
During the search operation, authorities seized stake money and playing cards, and the individuals were taken into custody. The arrested persons have been identified as:
1. Nisar Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rehman Dar, resident of Chanabal Mirgund Baramulla.
2. Gh Mohd Bhat, son of Abdul Aziz Bhat, resident of Ghat Sozeith Goripora.
3. Shahnawaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Matipora Pattan.
4. Gh Rasool Parray, son of Abdul Raheem Parray, resident of Sumbal Sonawari.
5. Gh Mohiddin Rather, son of Abdul Rahim Rather, resident of Alambal Mirgund.
Following the arrest, an FIR No. 21/2025 has been registered at Police Station Magam under relevant sections of law, and further investigation has been initiated.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reaffirmed their commitment to curbing illegal activities and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities in their vicinity. Authorities have also warned against engaging in unlawful gambling, reiterating that strict action will be taken against violators.
