Night temperature falls amid forecast for isolated light rains in J&K

Srinagar, June 16: Amid forecast for isolated light rains, night temperature recorded a drop at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

A meteorological department official here told GNS Srinagar recorded a low of 15.6ยฐC against 17.3ยฐC on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.8ยฐC for the summer capital.

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 14.0ยฐC against 16.0ยฐC on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.7ยฐC for the gateway town of Kashmir.

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 7.8ยฐC against 10.1ยฐC on the previous night and it was 0.7ยฐC below normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmirโ€™s Anantnag district.

In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 11.4ยฐC against 14.7ยฐC on the previous night and it was 1.8ยฐC below normal for the north Kashmir area.

Kokernag recorded a low of 13.4ยฐC against 14.3ยฐC on the previous night and it was 0.3ยฐC above normal for the place, the officials said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 7.6ยฐC against 9.5ยฐC on previous night and it was below normal by 0.7ยฐC for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 24.5ยฐC against 21.7ยฐC on the previous night and it was 1.0ยฐC below normal for J&Kโ€™s winter capital, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 16.2ยฐC (2.1ยฐC above normal), Batote 16.1ยฐC (0.1ยฐC above normal), Katra 21.6ยฐC (0.5ยฐC below normal) and Bhaderwah 15.0ยฐC (above normal by 1.3ยฐC).
