Kupwara Police Foils Narcotic Smuggling Attempt, One Held with Contraband

Kupwara, June 16:
In its continued crackdown against the menace of drugs, Kupwara Police today apprehended a suspected drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession during routine checking.
At approximately 1840 hours a naka was established near Tangibal Mor (curve) in the vicinity of Army Camp Peter 3. During the course of checking one individual identified as Zahid Ahmad Kataria son of Manawar Ahmad Kataria resident of Kalaroos was found moving suspiciously. He was immediately intercepted by the alert naka party.
Upon personal search a substantial amount of a substance resembling charas was recovered from his possession. The contraband has been seized on the spot as per legal procedure and the accused was taken into custody.
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered narcotics.
