*PMAY G (IAY) Update: Simplified Registration Process*
The government has introduced a streamlined registration process for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY G) scheme, eliminating the need for unnecessary documentation. Contrary to the common practice, applicants are no longer required to visit tehsil offices for income certificates, Chula, intikhab, and other documents.
To register for PMAY G, applicants only need to keep their Aadhar card, bank passbook, and job card handy. The government has enabled doorstep services, making it unnecessary to waste time and money on obtaining additional documents.
Moreover, applicants cannot register themselves at Common Service Centers (CSCs) under PMAY G. Instead, the Ministry of Rural Development (MORD) has developed a mobile app for registration, which also offers assisted surveys. Each panchayat has been assigned an official who will visit applicants by March 31, 2025, to facilitate the registration process.
The PMAY G scheme aims to provide affordable housing to rural populations, with the government offering financial assistance for constructing pucca houses. Eligible beneficiaries can check their names on the PMAY list, which is updated regularly.
