Poonch, Oct 17, The the Cyber Police Station Poonch has recovered a total amount of ₹75,000 defrauded from four victims in separate cases of online financial fraud, reaffirming the department’s growing efficiency in tackling cyber and digital crime in the district.
According to officials, the recoveries were made after the police acted swiftly on complaints lodged by local residents who had been duped through different online platforms and fraudulent financial transactions. Following detailed investigation and coordination with various banks and financial institutions, the Cyber Police successfully traced and refunded the amounts to the victims.
The complainants and their respective recovered amounts include Maqsood Hussain, son of Safdar Hussain, who was refunded ₹27,000; Shakeel Ahmed, son of Qamar Din, who recovered ₹23,000; Imtiyaz Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ashraf, who got back ₹15,000; and Shaida Kouser, wife of Imran Ahmed, who recovered ₹10,000.
A police spokesperson said that all four cases involved different modes of online fraud, including deceptive links, fake payment requests, and misleading digital transactions. “Our team promptly traced the digital footprints of the transactions and worked closely with financial intermediaries to recover the defrauded money,” the spokesperson said, adding that such recoveries underscore the department’s commitment to safeguard the public from emerging forms of cyber deception.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch Shafket Hussain (JKPS) appreciated the efforts of the Cyber Police team for their professionalism and timely action. He urged people to remain alert while conducting online financial activities and to avoid sharing personal banking details or responding to suspicious links and calls.
The recoveries have strengthened public confidence in the Cyber Police’s role as a frontline agency combating financial frauds and ensuring accountability in the digital space.
